History of BACBP
The Bulgarian Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy was founded in May, 1998. Its founders and first members are 35 people, professionals in the field of psychology, psychiatry, social work. Currently, the members of BACBP are 357.
In 1998 in Sofia was held the First seminar in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy in Bulgaria, led by Prof. Paul Salkovskis (Oxford University) and Herman Graham (University of Birmingham).
In 1999 in Sofia was held the First Annual Conference of BACBP, which was also a Regional conference in cognitive therapy for South-Eastern Europe. A main part of the conference was educational and included nine workshops.
Annual training conferences with international participants were to follow.
In recent years, the Association aims to provide at least two training events during the year.
BACBT is the only organization that accredits cognitive-behavioral therapists and counselors in Bulgaria.
